HPCI News: Breakthrough in Consumer-Friendly Hospital Safety Scores

Hospital Safety Scores are now
available for over 2,500 U.S. hospitals (including 30 in
Iowa) on a new consumer-friendly website. Simply by
selecting a city/state, the Hospital Safety Score will
appear for hospitals in that area. The Hospital Safety Score
grades a hospital on how well it protects patients from
errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.
Avoidable hospital errors can cause undue harm and server
stress to employees and their families. They are the 3rd
leading cause of death in the U.S. behind heart disease and
cancer. Such errors also result in lost productivity and
increased medical costs for employers.
