HPCI News: Price Transparency - An Essential Building Block

The Catalyst for Payment Reform (CPR) issued a call to action to health plans and health care providers: GIVE US YOUR PRICE DATA. This action involved major employers, labor, and consumer groups who endorsed the statement which sets a one year deadline. They include the National Business Coalition on Health, the Corporate Health Care Coalition, the Pacific Business Group on Health, AARP, the AFL-CIO, The Leapfrog Group, the Partnership for Women and Families, and others.
"Consumers are being asked to pay more as health care costs rise; they have a growing number of resources that are beginning to help them compare health care providers for differences in quality, but few to none that help them compare prices," explains Suzanne Delbanco, Executive Director of the Catalyst for Payment Reform.
HPCI has made price transparency a key priority for 2013 and beyond.
