A national partnership has been formed to reduce early elective deliveries. It includes the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Childbirth Connections, Catalyst for Payment Reform, and The Leapfrog Group. While hospitals are making progress in eliminating early elective deliveries, more needs to be done. Click here.
Also, I'm pleased to report that the Grinnell Regional Medical Center has achieved a rate of 2.6% for 2011 which is well below the 5% national target. Scores for each of the 737 hospitals that voluntarily reported their rates of early elective deliveries to the Leapfrog Group are available upon request from the HPCI/IHBA office.
